This guide explains how billing works for Pixop teams billed directly by Pixop.
Direct Pixop billing consists of two types of usage:
- Processing, paid using processing credits purchased in Pixop.
- Utilities, which consist of storage and downloads and are charged separately to your payment card.
For current processing, storage, and download rates, see Pricing.
If your Pixop team is billed through AWS Marketplace, this guide does not apply. Processing, storage, and downloads are instead metered in Pixop Credits and billed through AWS Marketplace. See AWS Marketplace billing guide.
Setting up billing
To activate direct Pixop billing, add a valid payment method to your team.
In Pixop Studio:
- Open My Account by clicking your initials in the upper-right corner.
- Select Billing.
- Enter your billing and payment information.
Direct Pixop payments are processed through Stripe. Credit and debit cards are supported; PayPal is not supported.
Once billing is set up, you can upload and download videos and purchase processing credits for processing.
Processing credits
Processing is paid using processing credits purchased in Pixop.
Before starting a processing job, Pixop calculates an estimate so you can review the expected processing cost.
When you start processing, Pixop compares the estimated cost with your current processing credit balance. If you do not have enough credits, you are prompted to purchase additional credits.
The minimum processing credit purchase is $10.
Processing credits are generally non-refundable.
Pixop charges processing credits only for successfully completed processing jobs. Failed jobs are not charged.
Processing prices and discounts
Processing prices are based on the filters, encoders, output resolution, frame count, and other operations used by the processing job.
Direct Pixop billing may include volume discounts and lifetime loyalty bonuses.
New direct-billing teams can receive a 25% signup discount on purchases during their first month. To redeem the signup discount, add valid payment information and purchase processing credits within 7 days of signing up.
See Pricing for current processing rates and discount information.
Utilities: storage and downloads
In addition to processing, direct Pixop billing includes Utilities.
Utilities consist of:
- storage used by videos and clips retained in Pixop
- data downloaded from Pixop
Utilities are not paid using your processing credit balance. They accumulate as a separate outstanding balance and are charged to the payment card associated with your team.
See Pricing for current storage and download rates.
How Utilities are charged
Pixop checks the outstanding Utilities balance for direct-billing teams weekly.
When the outstanding storage and download balance reaches $10 or more, excluding VAT, the balance is charged to the payment card associated with the team.
This means that small amounts of storage or download usage may accumulate before a payment is made.
Processing credits and Utilities are therefore billed differently:
| Usage | Direct Pixop billing |
|---|---|
| Processing | Deducted from prepaid processing credits |
| Storage | Accumulates as Utilities usage and is charged to your payment card |
| Downloads | Accumulates as Utilities usage and is charged to your payment card |
Storage charges
Storage charges apply while video data is stored in Pixop.
To keep storage costs down, delete videos and clips that you no longer need.
Storage pricing is expressed per gigabyte per month. See Pricing for the current rate.
Download charges
Download usage is charged based on the amount of data downloaded from Pixop.
See Pricing for the current price per downloaded gigabyte.
Updating your payment information
To update your credit or debit card:
- Open My Account by clicking your initials in the upper-right corner.
- Select Billing.
- Edit or replace your payment information.
Closing a team
When a direct-billing team is permanently deleted, any outstanding billing balance is charged before the team is closed.
Deleting a team permanently deletes its video data. Download any video data you need to keep before deleting the team.
